Uganda to play U-19 cricket World Cup qualifier in Malaysia
Xinhua Reports that “Originally the qualifier was meant to take place in Nepal, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to move the tournament to Kuala Lumpur to run October 14-25”
Chief Executive of Uganda Cricket Association Justine Ligyalingi confirms that they communicate that ICC moved the qualifier tournament in Malaysia.
Nepal were host the due 5 team competition due to disturbance in Nepal, the recently earthquake in Nepal which shocked whole country, ICC decided to move tournament to Malaysian capital.
Due to tragic events of earthquake in Nepal Ligyalingi explained that ICC decision is to move tournament from Nepal to Malaysia coupled with the infrastructure damage caused by the earthquakes and the on-going relief operations.
“It is good this communication has come in early and our team will start training next month to prepare for this qualifier expected to be very explosive,” explained Ligyalingi.
The five teams competing in the event are Ireland, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Uganda and USA.
